The Etisalat Group, with headquarters in United Arab Emirate, and the Qatari operator, Ooredoo and have selected to deploy the Ericsson 5G technology in their networks. The UAE network will become operational in early this year 2019. The expansion of the 5G Network in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), will position UAE at the fore front of 5G network deployment globally.
The Qatari operator Ooredoo, has also optedfor Ericsson to make its ‘Supernet’ fully 5G-enabled and enhance the digital lives of people, enterprises and industries across Qatar.
The Etisalat deal is part of a strategic partnership which will also see Ericsson and Etisalat working together to explore 5G opportunities.
Ericsson 5G network technology will allow Etisalat to offer enhanced mobile broadband and fixed wireless access. These are among the first 5G use cases and will provide subscribers with higher throughput and better experiences. For example, new immersive experiences using Augmented Reality (AR) or Virtual Reality (VR) applications, such as watching a 360° immersive 4K video on VR goggles.
The low-latency 5G technology will also enhance the daily lives of people in the UAE with particular needs. For example, those with hearing impairment can receive voice-to-text transcript on smart glasses using 5G and cloud solutions.
Ericsson solution will also enable Etisalat to address industry 4.0 digitalization opportunities by exploring automation, AI and machine learning services for UAE industries, based on 5G capabilities.

The Qatari 5G deal will see Ericsson Radio System, 5G New Radio solutions, and 10 Gbps microwave solutions digitally transform and modernize Ooredoo’s existing mobile networks and introduce the latest 5G technologies across the country.
Ericsson’s high-speed and low-latency 5G technology will help Ooredoo to meet growing data traffic demands and deliver high-quality mobile broadband and fixed wireless experiences.

Launches 5G network In Saudi Arabia

Saudi Telecom Company (STC) and Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) announced that they are launching a mid-band 5G network in Saudi Arabia at a signing ceremony held at the Mobile World Congress 2019 event in Barcelona.
STC is deploying a 5G network using Ericsson commercial hardware and solutions including radio access network (RAN), Packet core, transport and Ericsson Network Manager. This network modernization with latest technologies of wireless and fixed broadband, boosted speed and 5G deployment will operate on a 3.5 GHZ band. The 5G network will be deployed with a third-party, 3GPP-compliant user equipment.
Nasser Al Nasser, STC CEO, says: “We are excited to launch one of the fastest mid-band 5G field networks in the world. We have been working in close partnership with Ericsson on 5G for tests in the lab, field trials, and now initial deployment.
