As NCC Announces New Positions
The management of the Nigerian Communications Commission ( NCC) will soon announce changes to replace the 12 of its top management staff who retire at the end of this month. Prominent among the oncoming announcement is the naming of Amina Shehu as replacement for Nnamdi Nwokike, who retired as Director Public Affairs, after attaining the mandatory service years, as stipulated by the civil service commission.
Shehu is currently Head/ zonal director Legislative and Government Relations at the NCC.While Nwokike retired because he had reached the service bar, others such as Okoh Aihe, Deputy Director, public relations voluntarily retired under a special package which they opted for. Under the package the NCC top officers who retired before their due date are leaving in their new their positions as directors.
Some of them had up to three to four years to stay in service before they are due for retirement, “ but they opted to take the option of moving to their position and retire with sumptuous packages attached to it”, a source at the commission said this morning.
Competent sources at the commission said except there is a change of mind by the management Mrs Shehu who is currently zonal director would step in to pilot the affairs of the critical unit of the regulatory body.
She would be the fourth DPA, after the pioneer office holder, Mr Dave Imoko, who held that position for several years. Imoko vacated the position for Tony Ojobo, who retired about six months ago, paving the way for Nwokike who now had to vacate the position.
Shehu is an alumnus of the Bayero University Kano, and has an MBA in Marketing from the Enugu University of Science and Technology Business School, Lagos. She joined the Commission in 2005 as a Principal Manager in the Legislative and Government Affairs, and was the SERVICOM Nodal Officer from June-2008 to January 2010.
She was transferred to Policy Competition and Economic Analysis in 2010 as the Head, Policy and Process Review, and was made the Head, Human Capital Department in October, 2013.
She has enviable years of experience garnered from her previous work environment which includes her work in Nigerian Investment Promotion Council (NIPC) as the Chief Investment Officer. She is a specialist in Human Resource Management, Public Relations, Marketing amongst others.
