The African ICT Foundation, an independent, not-for-profit making organization, has said that it attended the recently concluded African Union (AU)’s internet governance training workshop held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to further actualize the African Union (AU) agenda 2063 , which is the Africa’s blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future.
The Foundation said that the AU agenda is in line with its foremost aim and objective; “To collaborate with the African Union and other regional bodies, public and private organizations and individuals to facilitate the utilization of ICT to promote the economic, social and environmental well-being of Africans, in line with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”
The AICT Foundation, is an independent not-for-profit making organization whose mission is to formulate, evaluate, and promote ICT and telecoms policies that accelerate innovations and boost productivity to spur growth, create job opportunities, and progress in Africa.
AICT Executive Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Bassey, said in a statement that the body was among the few dependable non-profit-organisation (NGO) invited to attend the AU internet governance training workshop in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The African ICT Foundation’s regional Director for West Africa, Dr. Kossi Amessinou who represented the organisation was optimistic that the workshop which lasted for 5 days and covers strategic Africa’s ICT developments such as: Digital divide, and development, The DigitalEconomy and Internet Governance, Legal and Regulatory Aspects of Internet Governance, Cybersecurity and Critical Information Infrastructure Protection, Internet Infrastructure, Architecture, Standards, and Protocols, among other topics, was a pointer to the Africa’s liberation from innovative stagnation.
The statement added that the training workshop was organized in line with the African ICT Foundation’s foremost aim and objective, which is to collaborate with the African Union and other regional bodies, public and private organizations and individuals to facilitate the utilization of ICT to promote the economic, social and environmental well-being of Africans.
“Our attendance is in line with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” part of the statement reads.
The training workshop handles topics ranging from the Digital Economy and Internet Governance, Legal and Regulatory Aspects of Internet Governance, Cybersecurity and Critical Information Infrastructure Protection, Internet Infrastructure, Architecture, Standards, and Protocols among other topics
