Omobola, Others Join Board in new changes
Telecommunication Regulation icon, Dr Ernest Ndukwe, has been named the new chairman, board of directors, of MTN Nigeria. He replaces Pascal Dozie, who is going on retirement after over 15 years as the company’s board chairman.
Ndukwe is an internationally acclaimed and multiple award winning telecommunications regulator, who midwifed the Nigerian telecommunication sector to its current enviable position. He was Nigerian Communications Commission Executive Vice Chairman for 10 years.
Also coming on board is former Minister of Communication, Dr Omobola Johnson, who has been named with four others to replace five existing non-executive directors who are retiring with Dozie.
The five other non-executive directors who are retiring are Col. Sani Bello (RTD) vice-chairman; Chief Victor Odili, Mallam Ahmed Dasuki, Babatunde Folawiyo; and Gbenga Oyebode.
Their retirement takes effect from September 2, 2019.
New names are also joining the MTN board, from September 2. Prominent among them are former Minister of Communication, Dr Omobola Johnson.
Other appointees include the telcos Chief Executive Officer, Ferdinand Moolman; Michael Onochie Ajukwu -independent non-executive director; Muhammad K. Ahmad -independent non-executive director; Andrew Alli -non-executive director; Rhidwaan Gasant -independent non-executive director.
Also in the board are Ralph Mupita; Paul Norman; Ifueko Okauru, non-executive director; Jens Schulte-Bockum; Group CEO, Rob Shuter, and Karl Toriola.
The company which announced the new changes on its website yesterday expressed its appreciation to the six retiring directors for their commitment, leadership and extensive contributions to the success of the Company since their appointment in 2001. The Board wishes them the very best in all their future endeavours.
