The Gboribiogha John Jonah Campaign Organisation has described as false and dangerous rumours that the deputy governor, whose campaign is ratcheting up by the day, has withdrawn from the September 3 primary to elect the People’s Democratic Party candidate for the November 16 election.
The campaign organization said in a statement that the deputy governor is not only still in the race, but his campaign is gaining the right momentum.
The statement, signed by the Director of Publicity, Markson Fefegha, noted that the “dangerous rumour, to the best of our knowledge, is only intended to destabilize our burgeoning support base and distract our well-focused ongoing campaign”.
The statement further said, “the rumour of his purported withdrawal from the governorship race is unfounded and a calculated attempt to disorganize his well-articulated campaign that is progressing fine.
“We, therefore, wish to state categorically and unequivocally that Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (rtd) is still in the governorship race and will never withdraw from the race no matter the circumstances and will participate in the PDP governorship primaries, come Tuesday, September 3, 2019.
“The right thing to do under the prevailing circumstances is for our revered elder statesmen and leaders of thought, in the State to be candid and dispassionate enough to offer wise counsel to whosoever is influencing them to dissuade the Deputy Governor from contesting at this crucial time, to consider him instead, the right of first refusal to contest the primary election, being the number two person in the Restoration Administration, given his sterling pedigree and loyalty”, the statement concluded.
The campaign organisation has implored the teeming supporters and sympathizers of Jonah, especially the delegates to discountenance the unfounded rumour and continue with all activities aimed at giving the deputy governor victory on September 3, 2019.
