President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed new persons into top positions in agencies under the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.

The appointments were contained in a statement by Femi Adesina, Buhari’s spokesperson.

Some of the agencies for which new board chairpersons were named include National Information Technology Development Agency of (NITDA), the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC). Galaxy Backbone, Nigerian Postal Services (NIPOST) and the NigComSat.

President Buhari said the appointments were made to fast-track the targets and mandate of the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.

At the NCC, Buhari replaced the current Board Chairman, Senator Olabiyi Durojayi with Prof. Adeolu Akande.  Mr Uche Onwude (South East) replaces Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Ararume (South East) as Non-Executive Commissioner.

Dr Abubakar Sa’id replaces Prof. Adeolu Akande as Board Chairman at NITDA, while Dr Habibu Ahmed Imam (North West) replaces Dr Lawal Bello Morik as board members. Dr Mohammed Sa’idu Kumo was also appointed as Board Member

Dr Ismail Adebayo Adewusi replaces Barrister Bisi Adegbuyi at NIPOST as post-master-general, while Professor Muhammed Bello Abubakar took over from Architect Yusuf Kazaure as Galazy Backbone CEO. Kazaure however was consoled by his appointment as NIgComSat board chairman. He replaced Chief Dr George Nnadubem Moghalu.  Dr Najeem Salam replaces Hon. Samson Osagie as Executive Director, Marketing and Business Development, while Professor Abdu Ja’afaru Bambale replaces Kazeem Kolawole Raji as Executive Director, Technical Services and Hadi Mohammed replaces Mohammed Lema Abubakar as Executive Director, Administration.
