The Nigerian Communications Commission ( NCC) has extended the deadline for submission of interest to participate in the 5G license auction which had been slated to close today (November 24), to 5pm November 29, next week Monday.

A public notice circulated by NCC director of Public Affairs, Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde “invites the Public to note that the submission of responses in respect of the 3.5 Gigahertz Spectrum Band auction was scheduled to close on Wednesday, 24th November 2021.

The notice said the change of date was necessary because of “challenges posed to air travels as witnessed recently and considering that it may have some impact on intending bidders regarding the submission of their bids.

“The Commission hereby extends the deadline for submission of bids and Initial Bid Deposits (IBDs) to 5.00 pm on Monday, 29th November, 2021”.

The statement said however that all other events as scheduled in the Information Memorandum remain unchanged.

In a previous announcement NCC had scheduled December 10 for the mock auction, while the actual auction was fixed for December 13, 2021.

Interested operators are expected to pay 10 per cent of the reserved price of $197.4 million to qualify to participate in the auction.
