The Nigerian media industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of veteran broadcaster and ICT advocate, Mr. Tayo Adewusi, who passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, after a brief illness. He was aged 54.
Adewusi, who until his death was the Chief Executive Officer of ICT Watch Magazine and TV, was widely respected for his over 25-year contribution to the growth of Nigeria’s broadcasting sector, as well as his pioneering role in advancing the country’s telecommunications and ICT landscape.
The Cloud Network Foundation (CNF), where Adewusi was a foundation member, described his passing as a devastating loss to the industry.
“We are saddened by the demise of a man who gave his all to the development of the broadcast industry and the digital ecosystem in Nigeria and beyond,” said CNF Chairman, Mr. Abimbola Tooki, in a statement announcing the death.
Adewusi was known for his passion for industry development, knowledge expansion, and capacity building in emerging technologies. Over the years, he was celebrated with several awards and recognitions for his outstanding contributions to journalism and ICT advocacy.
He is survived by an aged mother and children. The CNF has appealed to industry stakeholders for prayers, as well as emotional and financial support for the family he leaves behind.
Funeral arrangements, according to the family, will be announced in due course.
