The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has successfully hosted the inaugural Digital Awareness and Sensitization Forum, reaffirming its commitment to bridging Nigeria’s digital divide and promoting inclusive participation in the digital economy.
The forum, which held on November 13, 2025, was themed “Leaving No One Behind: Digital Assets, Equity, and Empowerment.” It brought together policymakers, industry players, technology innovators, development partners, and community stakeholders to deliberate on strategies for equitable access to digital services across the country.
Speaking at the event, the Commission emphasized the need to align policy, infrastructure, and innovation to drive national development and ensure that all segments of society benefit from digital transformation.
The NCC noted that discussions at the forum focused on inclusive digital policies, affordable broadband access, and digital literacy initiatives aimed at empowering citizens—particularly youths and marginalized communities—with relevant digital skills.
Highlighting Nigeria’s demographic advantage, the Commission stressed that with over 60 per cent of Africa’s population under the age of 25, Nigeria’s youthful population represents a critical digital asset that must be adequately equipped to compete in the global digital economy.
The forum was organised in collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), National Orientation Agency (NOA), FintechNGR, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and the Association of Nigerian Inventors (ANI).
Participants described the initiative as timely and strategic, noting that it strengthens Nigeria’s readiness for an AI-driven and data-centric future.
The event featured panel discussions, exhibitions, and interactive sessions showcasing innovations from startups, students, and fintech companies. It was livestreamed nationwide via the NCC portal, enabling participation across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
