The Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) has announced the inaugural edition of the Telecoms Industry Compliance Management Forum (CMF), a landmark platform designed to strengthen industry-wide compliance, deepen self-regulation, and enhance service quality in Nigeria’s fast-growing digital economy.
The Forum, themed “Securing the Future: Navigating Compliance and Governance for Improved Quality of Service and Experience in Nigeria’s Digital Landscape,” is endorsed by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and will bring together leading government institutions, regulators, and telecoms operators for strategic dialogue on governance and compliance.
Scheduled to hold on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in Lagos, the event will feature a rich lineup of speakers, including Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, who will deliver the keynote address titled: “Tax Compliance and the Business of Service Quality under the 2025 Fiscal Policy Framework.”
The Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, is expected to deliver the Welcome Address on the topic: “Compliance, Governance, and Quality of Experience: Building Trust and Service Excellence in Nigeria’s Digital Economy.”
Also expected at the forum are top heads of key government agencies, including:
- Dr. Zacch Adedeji, Executive Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS)
- Dr. Olatunji Bello, CEO/Executive Vice-Chairman, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC)
- Dr. Vincent Olatunji, National Commissioner/CEO, Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC)
- Hajia Hadiza Bala Usman, Special Adviser to the President on Policy & Coordination
Speaking ahead of the event, ALTON Chairman, Engr. Gbenga Adebayo, described the CMF as a groundbreaking initiative aimed at institutionalizing compliance as a collective responsibility across the sector.
“This Forum represents an industry-first effort to institutionalize compliance as a shared responsibility,” Adebayo said. “It underscores our strong support for the Federal Government’s fiscal reform agenda and our commitment to align with Mr. President’s economic re-engineering and systemic reforms. The year 2026 will be pivotal for the telecommunications sector as fiscal reforms take full effect, and this engagement provides an opportunity to gain clarity and deepen our understanding of these changes.”
Adebayo also commended the government’s ongoing tax reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that they address long-standing issues of multiple taxation in the sector.
“For many years, the industry faced over 50 different taxes and levies across federal, state, and local governments, posing severe operational burdens and impacting service quality,” he said. “The new tax policy direction simplifies compliance, promotes equity, and provides a more predictable operating environment. We sincerely appreciate this decisive effort.”
The CMF will focus on compliance, governance, and fiscal responsibility as central pillars for improving service quality and customer experience. It will also serve as a collaborative platform for strengthening trust and accountability between operators and government agencies.
The event is organized by ALTON, with Sir Damian Udeh, Publicity Secretary, confirming preparations for what is expected to be a high-level industry gathering.
