The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has called on stakeholders in the telecommunications sector to adopt environmentally sustainable practices that will support long-term industry growth.
According to the Commission, the telecom sector can play a major role in reducing carbon emissions by promoting remote work, expanding digital services, and deploying smart solutions that lessen dependence on travel and other carbon-intensive activities.
Participants at the conference supported the NCC’s stance, stressing that green telecom networks not only help protect the environment but also deliver economic benefits. They noted that sustainable systems can cut operational costs, improve network resilience, and extend connectivity to underserved rural communities.
The NCC maintained that the future of Nigeria’s telecommunications industry must be anchored on sustainability and urged all stakeholders to move quickly in adopting greener technologies and practices.
